Our history

Spillfree was established in 2016 by founder Vidar Myhre. With over 20 years of experience in the aquaculture industry, Myhre has worked in various management positions at Marine Harvest (MOWI), Nutreco and AstraZeneca. With a passion for feeding, he saw an enormous potential for increasing the production volume and value creation among salmon farmers through increased growth and reduced feed waste. A demand that created the cornerstone for today’s Spillfree.

Aqua Analytics, which was established in 2016 by veterinarian Arnfinn Aunsmo, was merged with Spillfree in 2018.

About Spillfree

Today, Spillfree operates as a leading aqua-tech supplier that develops and delivers operational decision-support for biological optimization, towards both farmers and suppliers in the aquaculture industry. An ever-recurring theme is whether you feed correctly and utilize the fish’s growth potential well enough.

At the same time, it is challenging to map the consequences of choices in biology and fish health. Therefore, we aim to optimize production and biology, through license-based decision-support tools and competence development.

With core competence in biological optimization and especially feeding, our focus is on raising awareness, improving and value creation in the aquaculture industry. Together with our customers, we aim to make aquaculture production more efficient and sustainable.

Value creation in fish farming is mainly related to biology. You often have to make decisions that have a big impact on value creation.

This can be the time of slaughter, smolt size, equipment capacity, fish health, vaccines, feed and more. Even within feeding, you face decisions such as increasing/decreasing dosage, number of involvements, camera positioning and more. Often one has to rely on previous experiences or assumed best practices.
