An ever-recurring subject is whether you feed correctly and utilize the fish’s growth potential well enough. At the same time, it is challenging to map the consequences of choices in biology and fish health. This issue and opportunity gave birth to Spillfree, which was established in 2016 by founder and CEO Vidar Myhre. With over 20 years of experience in the aquaculture industry, he has worked in various management positions at MOWI, Nutreco and AstraZeneca. With a passion for feeding, he saw an enormous potential for increasing the production volume and value creation among fish farmers through video documentation, measurements and competence development to achieve increased fish growth and reduced feed waste. A demand that created the cornerstone for today’s Spillfree. In 2018, Spillfree merged with Aqua Analytics, which was established in 2016 by veterinarian Arnfinn Aunsmo.

Our goal is to create sustainable
and safe food to the world’s growing
population, through professionalization
and development of the feeding profession.

Focusing on feeding, with the operator in focus

Value creation in fish farming is mainly related to biology. You often have to make decisions that have a big impact on value creation.

This can be the time of slaughter, smolt size, equipment capacity, fish health, vaccines, feed and more. Even within feeding, you face decisions such as increasing/decreasing dosage, number of involvements, camera positioning and more. Often one has to rely on previous experiences or assumed best practices.

For us, the dialogue and interaction with the operator and management must be present. This facilitates close follow-up, which contributes to better innovativeness, awareness of feeding, improvement and value creation. Being close to operations also provides a better opportunity for local and regular improvements, tailored to the customer. Our unique method aims to increase the level of motivation, quality and learning potential to all parties involved.
